Planet Bike Announces Cyclocross Sponsorship on Sep 21, 2007

Madison, Wisc.- September 21, 2007 - Planet Bike, a leading manufacturer of innovative, high quality, and practical bicycle accessories, is proud to announce that it will be sponsoring Tristan Schouten for the 2007 cyclocross season. This announcement comes in addition to the company's title sponsorship of the Wisconsin State Cyclocross series, and the founding of the Planet Bike Cyclocross team.

Last season Schouten, a Wisconsin native, left a strong impression on Planet Bike as he was named a member of the US Cyclocross team and spent several weeks racing in Europe, culminating with the UCI World Championships in Belgium. He'll open his season this weekend at the KTR Michigan Double Cross UCI race in Davisburg, MI. From there he'll be racing as many domestic UCI events as possible and the USGP of Cyclocross in Louisville, Kentucky.

"We're very excited to sponsor Tristian for this season," said Bob Downs, founder and CEO of Planet Bike. "He brings a lot to the table as a national caliber racer, and we're proud to tell folks he's from Wisconsin." Adds Downs, "While cyclcocross is a bit of a departure from our traditional focus of advocacy, I've found over the years that cyclocross racers are avid bicycle commuters who represent our mission and image very well."

Planet Bike designs high quality bicycle accessories that make it easier and safer for people to ride their bikes.  Since its inception in 1996, Planet Bike has believed that the bicycle can improve our environment and our quality of life.  Therefore, each year it has donated at least 25% of profits to causes that promote and facilitate the use of bicycles. By the end of 2007, Planet Bike will have donated more than $500,000 to the grassroots advocacy movement.
