Announcing Planet Bike’s Best Shot Photo Contest Winner

In May, we launched our first “Best Shot” photo contest. We received many artistic submissions and after much deliberation, we’re happy to announce that Joe Korbuszewski is our winning photographer. Joe captured his image at the gateway of the Olympic Peninsula near Gig Harbor, Washington while riding his nearly-original 1994 Bridgestone XO-3.

We reached out to Joe to learn more about the rider behind the camera lens and learned that he has called Tacoma, WA home since 1995. Joe finds the city a perfect balance between city life, local trails and the road and gravel routes he uses to explore the surrounding area. Joe got back into cycling when his kids started to ride and he has never looked back. He now has a quiver of bikes for road, gravel, cyclocross and commuting. In total, all of Joe’s pedal strokes add up to somewhere between three and four thousand cycling miles per year.

It turns out Joe is also a long-time user of Planet Bike products. He purchased his first Superflash tail light ten years ago and he’s happy to report that it’s still in service on his daughter’s bike! Being from the Pacific Northwest, he is also a fan of Cascadia fenders that keep him dry during the rainy season.

Every year Joe leads a two-day 160 mile ride between North Bend and Ellensburg on the Palouse to Cascades Trail. The first year he did it there were only two riders and it was one of hardest rides he had done up to that point. Now in its fifth year, there are twenty-six riders on the adventure. Cycling has brought Joe to places he would never have otherwise experienced and introduced him to some of his best friends!

As a winner of our Best Shot photo contest, Joe is receiving a $100 gift certificate for Planet Bike products. Thanks to Joe and to all of the other photographers who entered. Stay tuned for our next contest. Until then, keep pedaling and keep clicking photos of your adventures by bike.
