New York City, known as the melting pot of the world, has seen the number of bicycle commuters increase rapidly over the past five years. Although still a fraction of the total transportation population, bicycling has outpaced both population and employment growth within the city. New York now has more bicycle commuters and then any other American city.

New York is not the only city in the U.S. seeing bicycle transportation growth, cities like Chicago, Seattle, Portland and many others are seeing exponential growth in this form of transportation. This has started a wave of growth in bicycle transportation infrastructure and cities being redesigned to accommodate this age-old form of transportation that we all know and love.
