Planet Bike is thrilled begin a partnership with Black Girls Do Bike. We love the balance that the bicycle brings to the world and our corporate mission is to pledge time, resources and profits to organizations working for sustainable transportation solutions. This year we have focused a portion of our giving on advocacy groups welcoming and supporting new and diverse people to the national bicycling family.

Black Girls Do Bike is a non-profit organization that has nearly one hundred chapters spanning the country from Alabama to Alaska. Their focus is to grow and support a community of women of color who share a passion for cycling. They work to demystify cycling by establishing a comfortable space where lady cyclists can support and advise each other and ride together. Black Girls Do Bike members rejoice when women choose cycling as a tool for function, fitness, freedom, and fun!

This year, our support is helping Black Girls Do Bike shares stories of its members through their Bike Girl Magic video series. These videos highlight inspiring women who are dreaming big and changing the landscape of cycling for women of color across the country.

In this episode, Bike Girl Magic speaks with Nedra Deadwyler. She’s the founder of Civil Bikes which offers walking and bicycle tours of Atlanta to highlight the unseen and unheard stories of her city. She discusses what anchors her work, the importance of documenting our history, the best bike advice she ever received, and much more!
