The 2010-11 cyclocross season went off with a boom this past weekend at the U.S. Grand Prix Planet Bike Cup held in Sun Prairie, WI. Saturday and Sunday racing catered to all levels of racers with the marquee events coming at the closing of each day with the pro women’s and men’s races.
Planet Bike team member Katie Compton exceeded all challenges taking the win in the pro women’s race on both days. Just off an injury suffered at the World Mountain Bike Championships, Katie showed that she is still the cream of the crop in the U.S. cyclocross scene.
The pro men’s races featured current or former national champions from the U.S., France, Germany, and Switzerland. Planet Bike team member Jonathan Page put in impressive finishes with third on Saturday and eleventh on Sunday. Planet Bike supported rider Tristan Schouten turned heads all weekend long as well. On Saturday Tristan won the “most aggressive rider” award on his way to seventh place. Sunday’s fifth place ride by Schouten proved the previous days result was no fluke.
